Revamped SD roller range for Volvo to level the field

Volvo Construction Equipment has introduced its latest range of compactors, the SD75B, SD115B, SD135B and SD160B models, featuring advanced technologies designed to optimise performance across a variety of applications.

These new machines offer operators enhanced control, multiple engine options, and improved efficiency, making them a versatile choice for a wide range of soil conditions and job site requirements, according to the manufacturer..

One of the features of the new SD115BSD160B compactors is the ability to easily adjust vibration frequency directly from the operator console.

This allows operators to compensate for varying soil types and conditions, ensuring optimal compaction results.

The machines come standard with two frequency settings, and for added versatility, an option to select from five frequency settings is available.

Additionally, operators can choose between high and low amplitude settings to match the compaction needs of the job.

To cater to different market requirements, Volvo offers multiple engine options for the SD compactors.

For regions where ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel is not readily available, an optional Stage IIIA engine can be equipped.

In markets with access to ultra-low sulfur fuel, a more advanced Stage V engine is available, meeting stringent emissions standards and offering enhanced performance.

The SD compactors are designed for versatility, with the ability to be configured in three different setups.

The machines are available with either a smooth or padfoot drum, allowing them to be adapted for various applications.

For greater flexibility, the compactors can be quickly converted from a smooth drum to a padfoot drum using a clamp-on padfoot shell kit, enabling operators to tackle a wider range of projects with a single machine.

Volvo’s advanced drum control system enhances the performance of the SD compactors.

This system offers multiple frequencies, dual amplitude, and optimised centrifugal force, allowing operators to tailor the drum’s performance to the specific demands of each application.

The ease of selecting between high and low amplitude settings provides flexibility in adjusting the drum’s dynamic force based on material depth and job requirements.

An auto vibration feature further increases ease of operation and boosts productivity.

Volvo offers an improved traction variation, which it says, delivers exceptional climbing and traction capabilities in difficult conditions.

The High Traction variant also provides additional torque, enabling the machine to easily navigate extreme slopes.

The SD compactors are equipped with an efficient cooling system that features a hydraulically-driven fan with variable speed.

This system draws power only when needed, reducing noise and improving operator comfort while lowering the total cost of ownership.
