The Vermeer D220X500 S3 directional drill rig is new for 2025 from the manufacturer and is designed for heavy-duty horizontal drilling applications.

Powering the D220X500 S3 is the Caterpillar C13 engine, generating 309.5kW (415 hp) at 2000 rpm. 

This 12.5-litre, 6-cylinder engine ensures the rig can handle demanding drilling conditions while maintaining fuel efficiency. 

With a maximum pullback and thrust of 109,048 kg and a rotational torque of 71,316 Nm , the D220X500 S3 is capable of drilling through tough soil and rock formations with ease.

It is very versatile, offering variable drilling parameters to suit a wide range of applications. 

It supports maximum back ream diameters and bore lengths that can be customised based on project requirements. 

The rig also features a bend radius that ensures smooth and precise drilling around obstacles, making it ideal for urban environments and complex terrains.

The drill stem diameter and length are variable, allowing operators to tailor the setup for specific job conditions. 

With a mud/water pump flow rate of 1,325 litres per minute and a pressure of 8,270 kPa, the rig ensures efficient cuttings removal and borehole stability, even in challenging ground conditions.

The D220X500 S3 is equipped with a variable tracking system, providing real-time data on drill head location, depth, and alignment. 

This system enhances accuracy and reduces the risk of deviations, ensuring the drill follows the planned path with precision.

In transport position, the rig measures 15,469mm in length, 2,540mm in width, and 3,505mm in height. 

Its compact design allows for easier transportation and setup, even in confined job sites. 

The rig’s equipment weight of 40,237kg ensures stability during operation while maintaining maneuverability.
