Caterpillar has expanded its demolition excavator line with the introduction of the Cat 330 Straight Boom (SB), initially in the US and Europe.
Designed to operate in low-level building demolition applications, the manufacturer says this new addition promises top performance and versatility.
With a maximum dig depth of 5.8m and a max vertical reach of 12.48m (2.45m higher than a standard 330), the 330 SB has been made for demolishing three-story buildings.
With a wide range of demolition tools including hammers, multi-processors, demolition grapples, pulverisers and quick couplers, it is claimed to offer the efficiency and power necessary for demanding demolition tasks.
Powered by the 205 kW Cat C7.1 engine, it features three power modes which match engine and hydraulic power to the task – resulting in reduced fuel consumption.
The excavator’s electro-hydraulic system powers through different materials, while standard quick couplers and medium and high-pressure circuits allow the use of a variety of demolition attachments.
The next-generation demolition cab positions all machine controls in front of the operator, eliminating the need to reach backward. Customisable functions and touchscreen monitor accessibility enhance operational ease.
The manufacturer states the Cat 330 SB excavator has been built for durability and features reinforced booms, sticks, frame, and a bucket cylinder guard.
Operator protective guards shield the roof and reinforced windows from falling debris, ensuring safety but maintaining visibility.
A sloped track frame prevents mud and debris accumulation, reducing damage and increasing undercarriage life.
Simplified maintenance contributes to long-term owning and operating cost reductions. All fuel filters have extended, synchronized 1,000-hour change intervals, and are grouped together for ease of maintenance.
Operators can track filter life and maintenance intervals from inside the cab, while remote diagnostics and software updates enable service technicians to perform maintenance tasks efficiently.
PS Plant Specs will upload the full specifications for the new variant as soon as they are available.
