Hyundai’s first foray into dozers hits the ground in North America

Hyundai Construction Equipment has launched its first crawler dozer dubbed the HD100 into the North American market.

This new addition broadens Hyundai’s line of earthmoving equipment, which includes wheel loaders, hydraulic excavators, articulated dump trucks, skidsteers and compact track loaders.

“The new HD100 dozer will be a great addition to the equipment fleets of earthmoving contractors, forestry, waste handlers, and other customers who already enjoy the benefits of using Hyundai wheel loaders and excavators,” said Mike Ross, senior vice-president of HD Hyundai Construction Equipment North America.

“It’s further evidence of Hyundai’s commitment to providing the right solution for a wide range of earthmoving and material-handling applications.”

The HD100 dozer, a 10-ton-class machine, features a standard blade capacity of 2.2 cubic metres and a digging depth of 457mm. It is powered by a 115 hp, fuel-efficient, four-cylinder Hyundai G2 DM03 engine that meets Tier 4 Final emissions standards.

“This new Hyundai dozer delivers best-in-class power-to-weight ratio and the best visibility to the dozer blade,” added David Spooner, product manager of the Hyundai importer.

“Our dealers and customers, especially in landscaping and forestry, have already expressed a lot of interest in this machine.”

The HD100 dozer is designed to be heavier, providing more power and tractive ability.

Its undercarriage system includes dual-flange rollers outside the track chain and single-flange rollers inside, ensuring the track remains secure, reducing wear, and enhancing operator comfort.

The HD100 features a standard operating weight of 10,700 kg and a track length on the ground of 2.7 meters.

Its hydrostatic transmission offers smooth control of speed and torque, making operation easier.

The manufacturer says the dozer’s visibility is enhanced by  its design, which includes an unobstructed view of the standard six-way angle blade, a narrow front hood, minimised cab pillars, maximised glass areas, and a rearview camera.

The dozer offers precise grading capabilities with its standard six-way variable-angle-pitch blade, which can angle up to 25 degrees.

The blade float function is suited for fine finishing or smooth back grading.

The standard 2D Smart Blade assist function improves precision grading, and the HD100 can be ordered Trimble-ready, incorporating optional 3D machine guidance and control systems that automate blade movements based on GPS coordinates.

An LGP (low ground pressure) option is available with a wider 3.2-metre blade and track shoes that are 10 cm wider than the standard ones. Other options include a parallel ripper or towing draw bar.

The dozer has a maximum travel speed of 9 km per hour, seven track rollers, a shoe width of 50 cm, and a ground contact pressure of 5.6 psi with the standard blade, or 4.2 psi with the optional LGP package.
