Hydrema adds option for tyred excavator to help on-and-off the rails – see specs

PS Plant Specs online has uploaded the specs for the latest version of Hydrema’s MX17G Rail, which it says is a state-of-the-art tyred excavator designed for railway construction and maintenance. The model now boasts an optional two-piece boom.

It is designed to combine precision, versatility, and safety, it also claims..

Part of Hydrema’s MXG Rail Series, the MX17G Rail is engineered to operate efficiently both on and off the rails, making it an ideal solution for complex rail environments.

The MX17G Rail is specifically designed to work on double-track railways without disrupting adjacent traffic, making it a highly versatile machine for sector projects.

Its compact superstructure and factory-installed rail system allow for smooth operation on narrow rail corridors, while the robust features of Hydrema’s MXG series ensure powerful performance in demanding conditions.

Unlike the larger MX20G Rail, which is designed for heavy lifting, the MX17G Rail excels in tight spaces where precision and minimised interference are essential.

Hydrema’s modular rail wheel system gives the MX17G Rail flexibility.

It can switch between high and low-rail modes depending on operational needs.

In high-rail mode, the machine can work near active tracks without causing disruptions, while low-rail mode enables it to run directly on the tracks, providing superior traction and stability in challenging conditions like wet or slippery rail surfaces.

To ensure safety in confined spaces, especially when working close to or between active tracks, the MX17G Rail is equipped with the advanced Prolec height and swing limitation system.

This system, integrated with Rated Capacity Indicator technology, keeps the machine within safe working limits, minimising the risk of accidents.

The MX17G Rail is designed to tackle the toughest rail applications, offering a compact yet powerful solution for railway construction and maintenance.
