Kubota has announced the release of its latest compact excavator, the KX080-5, an 8.4-metric-ton machine that builds on the foundation of its predecessor while introducing a range of new features aimed at enhancing operator experience and efficiency.

Kubota’s product manager for construction equipment highlighted the significant upgrades in the fifth-generation excavator. 

While maintaining the same specifications as the previous model, the KX080-5 boasts several improvements designed to streamline operations and improve comfort.

One of the features of the new KX080-5 is its redesigned cab, which offers increased comfort and a quieter operating environment, reducing noise levels to just 72 decibels. It also includes a new interior design with improved functions.

The KX080-5 is equipped with a two-pump, load-sensing hydraulic system, which Kubota claims significantly improves the smoothness of running attachments. Operators can adjust hydraulic settings on the in-cab monitor, making the machine more user-friendly.

Another notable feature is automatic activation of the third line hydraulic return, which eliminates the need for operators to manually open and close it. This function is automatically triggered when one-way flow is selected on the cab’s digital panel.

Standard on the new excavator are a thumb and relief valve, and a contoured tail design with a shorter rear overhang. Kubota says these features contribute to increased stability, better performance in tight spaces, and easier transport.

Powered by a 66.6-horsepower Kubota engine, the KX080-5 also benefits from extended service intervals for the regeneration filter and ash cleaner, reducing maintenance downtime.
