CAT makes first tilt at rotating attachments and we’ve posted the specs

Caterpillar has just released its TRS20, TRS17, and TRS12 tiltrotator models, which it says are engineered to deliver performance for operators across a range of carrier sizes.

PS Plant Specs Online has now posted the full specs so subscribers can compare these three attachments against similar models from other manufacturers. See also our annual print edition and the PS Lookup App. Subscribe now.

Whether you’re working on grading, trenching, or material handling, these tiltrotators are designed to maximise productivity while minimising downtime.

One of the features of Caterpillar’s tiltrotators is their full 360° rotation, allowing operators to position attachments with pinpoint accuracy.

Combined with a 40° tilt angle in both directions, these systems provide manoeuvrability in tight spaces and complex job sites.

Whether you’re working on a construction site, road project, or landscaping job, the ability to adjust the bucket or attachment without repositioning the machine saves time and fuel.

All three models comply with AS4772-2008, guaranteeing safety and reliability.

Additionally, they support dry-break couplers, enabling quick and clean attachment changes without hydraulic spillage—ideal for reducing environmental impact and maintenance hassles.

For operators who need advanced control, 2D/3D grade control options are available, ensuring precision grading and excavation with minimal rework.

Caterpillar’s tiltrotator range caters to different machine classes. The TRS20 is suited for 18-24-tonne carriers, boasting a maximum bucket width of 1800mm and an operating weight of 748kg.

The TRS17 has been designed for 14-19-tonne machines. It handles buckets up to 1600mm and weighs 638kg.

TRS12 is suited for 12-16-tonne excavators, this compact yet powerful model supports 1500mm buckets and has an operating weight of 507kg.

Each model is built to withstand 250 bar maximum operating pressure, ensuring durability under demanding conditions.

The recommended flow rates (72-121 L/min for the TRS20, 72-111 L/min for the TRS17, and 60-91 L/min for the TRS12) ensure smooth, responsive operation across different hydraulic systems.

A key advantage of Caterpillar’s tiltrotators is their double-hitch compatibility, meaning they can be mounted both top and bottom.

This feature allows operators to switch between different attachment setups quickly, further enhancing job site adaptability.
