Built to endure the harshest conditions, this compactor is engineered to maximise density, minimise airspace, and extend the life of landfill sites.

Powering the Cat 836 is the formidable Cat C18 T4 Final engine, a 18.1-litre, six-cylinder powerplant delivering 419 kW (562 hp) at 1900 rpm.

This brute force ensures the compactor can tackle steep slopes and compact vast quantities of waste.

The engine is B20 biodiesel-compatible, offering a greener footprint without sacrificing performance.

Weighing in at 56,275 kg unballasted, the 836 exerts immense ground pressure, crucial for achieving optimal waste density.

Its dual-drum system, with 1,400 mm wheel widths, ensures uniform compaction, while operators can choose from a variety of pad configurations – 7″ Diamond Tip, Plus Tip, Paddle Tip, Combination Tip, or Chopper Blade – depending on the material being compacted.

The static weight distribution (23,867 kg front / 32,408 kg rear) guarantees stability, even on uneven terrain.

The rotary power-shift transmission provides seamless gear changes, while the wet disc brakes ensure reliable stopping power, even on steep grades.

With a turning circle diameter of 8,737 mm, this machine remains agile despite its imposing 10,914 mm length, 4,280 mm width, and 4,634 mm height.

As the successor to the 836K, this 2025 model builds on Caterpillar’s decades of expertise in waste compaction.

Whether crushing municipal solid waste, industrial refuse, or construction debris, the 836 landfill compactor delivers performance, durability, and efficiency.
