This redesign aims to enhance the features that made the previous series popular through improved engine performance, lift and tilt capabilities, stability, operator comfort and technology integration.

Trevor Chase, Caterpillar’s product application specialist, said the company is committed to maintaining the essence of the D3 series while incorporating customer feedback in order to push the boundaries of loader performance.

The new models serve as replacements for the 259D3, 279D3, and 289D3 machines.

Powered by Cat C2.8T and Cat C2.8TA engines, the 255 and 265 loaders offer 55.4 kW) across a broader RPM range and boast torque increases for enhanced working performance.

A redesigned engine compartment mounts the engine and cooling package lower into the frame, improving stability and handling under heavy load.

Caterpillar says the 255 loader has class-leading lift height, 36% more tilt breakout, 26% higher lift breakout force, and a 24% increase in rated operating capacity compared to its predecessor.

Meanwhile, the 265 has a maximum lift height of 3.35 meters, along with 19% higher tilt breakout force and 22% higher lift breakout force compared to the 289D3.

Standard hydraulic system pressure is increased to 3,500 psi (24130 kPa), and a closed-center auxiliary hydraulic system allows operation of all Cat Smart Attachments, including the Dozer Blade.

The new loaders feature a larger cab design with increased overall volume and additional foot space, providing improved operator comfort. Various seat options, including ventilated and heated high-comfort seats, are available. The HVAC system offers auto temperature control and efficient vent positioning for quick cooling.

Equipped with either a 5-inch standard LCD monitor or an 8-inch advanced touchscreen, the loaders provide Bluetooth connectivity and support for rear view camera feed, job clock and maintenance reminders.

New joysticks facilitate integrated control of the touchscreen monitor, ensuring ease of operation.

PS Plant Specs will upload the full specifications for the new machines as soon as they are available.

The CAT 255 compact crawler loader – new for 2024

[5,11
13,29,28,7
